Chemical Peels

Chemical peeling is helpful for wrinkles, light acne scarring and irregular pigmented lesions such as freckles and age spots. Pre-cancerous conditions known as actinic keratoses (thick, rough, reddish growths) respond well to this procedure.

There are several types of chemical peels: Light peels remove superficial wrinkles, medium peels and deep peels are used for more severe conditions.

Generally, a thorough cleansing of the skin is performed first. Next, a small applicator is used to apply the chemical solution to a designated area of the face. Excess solution is removed and the procedure is continued on other areas.

The amount of improvement varies and depends upon the initial condition of the patient's skin. However, significant improvement of damaged skin can be achieved, which can produce dramatic results.
